E3 2017 Day 3 : Playstation and Ubisoft Announcements
Again, a lot happened over Playstation today at E3 conference. Many Ubisoft titles were also announced with Assassin's Creed Origins (announced yesterday) and Far Cry 5 being a handful. As of Playstation, much hasn't changed since last year where we got a sneak peek at titles like Spiderman and Days Gone, only to be announced this year. The VR game is still high with new upcomings from both.
PLAYSTATION ANNOUNCEMENTS
Uncharted : The Lost Legacy looks stunning as ever
The Lost Legacy is the first Uncharted game to not star Nathan Drake, but our new heroes — Uncharted 2 treasure hunter Chloe Frazer and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End mercenary Nadine Ross — don’t seem to be straying too far from the series’ roots. This time? They’re after the tusk of Ganesh, which is presumably some kind of ancient treasure.
The new God of War
The scene has shifted from Kratos to his son Atreus. The game based on Norse mythology showcases more of the hack and slash action the game is known for, complete with gory finishing moves, along with a vague “early 2018” release window.
Days Gone is finally here, unleashing the undead
Days Gone was in high anticipation since the sneak peek last year, and it surely didn't dissappoint. Sony showed a seven-minute long gameplay walkthrough of their new open world zombie survival game. The clip showed off a quieter pace than earlier trailers, with some more stealth gameplay. It also shows how players can harness the mindless hordes of zombies to their advantage. There was also a scene where you had to walk beneath zombies hanging from a tree. Yuck! As of now, there isn't a release date.
Shadow of Colossus remake
A cult classic from Sony's Playstation 2 in 2011, Shadow of Colossus has been remade and remastered for the new Playstation and is so much 2018!
Detroit : Become Human gameplay trailer
Another highly anticipating game since its first trailer earlier this year, Detroit: Become Human presented a new trailer showing off some of the branching choices players can make. The new clip showed off a character named Marcus, as he leads other androids in a riot against their human makers. Again, no hard release date yet.
Spider-Man, a Playstation exclusive
The trailer got us like a train when it hit YouTube, and didn't disappoint today either with an eight-minute gameplay video. As expected, the title is filled with acrobatic action and combat that favors chaining attacks together, along with a glorious look at how the open world web-slinging will work. Being Playstation exclusive may be hard one on some of us, but the smooth mechanics and immersive gameplay combat is enough to hook anyone. Spider-Man too is set to release in 2018.
UBISOFT TITLES
Mario + Rabbids : Battle Kingdom
Much like Marvel vs Capcom, this is a weird cross and gets weirder when we came to know its an XCOM-like tactical game. Among other things, it’s got Mega Man-style arm cannons, destructible environments, and classic Mario characters played by Rabbids in cosplay. Things can't get any weirder, better wait for it to be released on the Nintendo Switch on August 29th.
Skull and Bone, a pirate fantasy
If you loved the Assassin's Creed : Black Flag, you are definitely gonna like Skull and Bone being from the same developer company. A sea-faring multiplayer, this a game where you build a fleet, customize your ships, and battle fellow pirates. Set to release in 2018, we cannot wait for more surprises.
Beyond Good and Evil 2, the wait is over
Ubusoft gave us the ever-classic Beyond Good and evil in 2003, and since then there has been many rumors and false alarms of a part 2 in development. The time has come — except actually, it’s a prequel. We got an exciting new trailer with a Fifth Element vibe at this year’s E3, although we still don’t know when the game might launch. Considering the long awaited The Last Guardian releasing last year, anything is possible.
The Crew 2, go vroooom!
Ubisoft’s sequel to 2014 game The Crew is set in an open world where you can push the speed limits of just about any vehicle — cars, planes, dirt bikes, boats, and more. Its truly ridiculous cinematic trailer looks like Inception: Extreme Sports Edition, which probably isn’t literally representative of the game, but remains gorgeous. There’s also some footage of the gameplay, including an offroad competition and a plane race through Manhattan. Set to release in 2018, Beta invitations are still out.
Far Cry 5. Wow!
The trailer showcasing a murderous rural religious cult and the short clips introducing the vendetta squad was enough to get us jumping on our seats. Now we know we’ll be doing it with a sniper partner, an aerial warfare expert, and a doggo named Boomer, all of which will help us cause fairly ludicrous amounts of destruction. The game is set to lauch in February 27th and we cannot wait to get our hands on it!
