The People's Phone is back! OnePlus 5 Review

It is finally here. After all the leaks, renders and stormed speculations, the OnePlus 5 is finally here in all it's glory. But, is it still the people's phone, with it's slightly amped market value? Well that's a question that will soon be answered.

OnePlus 5 overview
Previous generations OnePlus 3 and 3T were both high-end, flagship grade, premium smartphones, with great specs, including the latest processors of their time, and a great build quality. All these were more than good enough to compete with prevailing smartphone kingpins, especially at OnePlus' consumer friendly prices. However, the one place where OnePlus list the bet was the camera. Well this time the company decided to dodge that barrier too. OnePlus' key feature for their latest flagship is the dual camera setup. The company added standard and telephoto lenses to keep them updated to the smartphone game, cause, let's be honest, what is a flagship smartphone without a great camera? Other than that, OnePlus also decided to refresh their design, in a very subtle manner, that is to say, they borrowed a little something from a little someone for their updated design. Okay, jokes apart, the phone doesn't look bad at all in the new aluminum unibody, with slightly more rounded edges, giving the phone a better grip and a slimmer footprint. For the specs, they are all one could expect from OnePlus. Only the latest and greatest. Check out the specs below.

Features & Availability
OnePlus isn't the global leader in smartphone manufacturing, neither do they boast the most expensive devices on the planet, even though they might resemble some. This creates a major set back for the company as they are not able to get their hands on the latest and greatest features of mobile technology. As for example the OnePlus 5 doesn't have an edge to edge Infinity display, nor an infrared Iris scanner, or a pressure sensitive home button, etc. But considering the price point, none of these features actually matter for the customers, as they get most of the important aspects of a smartphone packed in a pretty affordable device. OnePlus CEO himself claimed the fact that they do regret not having the necessary technology for an edge-to-edge display allowing a much wider screen real estate. However, what we believe is that the phone is a solid build, and would be a great value for money, which is OnePlus' speciality, that is only if some people ditch the fact that the phone might be mimicking.

Sales for the OnePlus 5 begin on June 27 at 12.01 AM EDT, worldwide. However, the company has announced that the phone will be available in the US and select European regions full 6 days ahead on 21st June for pre-order on the company's official site. The phone is priced at $479 for the 64GB+6GB variant, while the company charges a hefty $539 for the 128GB+8GB variant. According to previous leaks, the phlne is expected to cost ₹32,999 and ₹37,999 respectively for the 64GB+6GB and 128GB+8GB variants.

That is all for now. Thanks for reading, stay tuned and have a great day.
