LG Q6 : Full Vision, Half Effort
LG's desperate effort to stay in the lime light has forced the company to offer flagship class design in a tight budget offering. But, with the latest Q6, will LG get the necessary attention to boost the company at the top of the food chain of budget consumers ??
Overview
LG's latest budget offering, the Q6, is a brilliant device to look at. Inheriting from it's older brother, the G6, this too has the FullVision technology, that is, a 5.5" almost bezel-less, 18:9 aspect ratio display, which is damn striking to look at. The company solely placed their bet on this single feature, as this is the only compelling feature of this phone if anyone should ever consider buying this phone. The aluminium unibody with strong 7000 graded aluminium, brings out a bit of a class to the phone. Other such features to boast is the face-detection unlocking, compromising the the presence of a fingerprint sensor. The Q6 also lacks a dual camera setup, which at this price-point, would have certainly been an eye-catcher.
Also, with the rest of the specifications being rather mid-range, the phone might not have that much of a win in this segment.
Square Camera
Amongst other standard predicaments of a modern day smartphone, LG provides a manifest of camera features that would more than please shutter-bugs. Square-camera, as the company calls it, makes a great use of the 18:9 ratio of the screen. The app divides the available screen real estate into two equal halves, and uses this mode to develop creative pictures by merging two or more photos into one. The available presets among others are Snap shot, Grid shot, Guide shot, and Match Shot.

Pricing and Availability
LG's biggest bet on releasing this phone was it's lucrative pricing. Priced at ₹ 14,990 ($234 approx), most of the people perhaps would be willing to forgive the mediocre spec sheet dawned by the device. This is available in every major smartphone retailer, and in online shopping sites as well. This could mark the advent of a new LG, or push the company much more towards the edge. A tough gamble for LG, indeed.
